For Doctors: Training
Training is central to Hollywood's commitment to raising the standard of patient care. Hollywood's commitment to teaching and its close links to four of WA's universities make it unique among private hospitals in Australia.
Hollywood has always had a close affiliation with the University of Western Australia, including academic positions at professorial and senior lecturer levels in medicine, surgery, orthopaedics and urology and medical undergraduate teaching.
Hollywood also has affiliations with Curtin University of Technology, Murdoch University, Edith Cowan University and the University of Notre Dame for the undergraduate and post-graduate education of a range of allied health disciplines and nursing.
Hollywood was the first private hospital in Australia to employ a significant number of junior medical staff. The hospital continues to provide for 45 resident and registrar positions. Hollywood has accredited specialist training positions in the disciplines of general surgery, general medicine, urology, radiology, gastroenterology, psychiatry and palliative care.
The junior medical staff provide 24-hour on-site medical cover. This enables Hollywood to offer 24-hour service for acute-care admissions and provide more complex surgery and treatment of a greater variety and complexity of medical conditions.
Medical practitioners are welcome to attend the regular educational activities conducted in the hospital, including clinicians' symposiums.
Every Thursday at 12.30pm clinical meetings are held which allow medical staff to interact and discuss details over lunch. For more information, please contact Medical Administration on 08 9346 6249.
